Start close in,
Don’t take the second step
or the third,
Start with the first thing
close in,
The step you don’t want to take.”

Ecotherapy is an umbrella term of mutual healing between the human mind and the natural world from which it evolved.

Honouring, acknowledging and respecting the natural world – and ourselves

The natural environment offers optimum conditions for
~ Clearing the mind
~ Attentional recovery in the brain
~ Facing of matters on your mind
~ Reflection upon emerging experience

Evidence shows us we have an evolutionary advantage being outside – restoring attention helps us in staying focussed and alert.  This would increase our chances of survival.

Clinical evidence shows nature helps regulate mind and body.

For some, being outdoors helps to lessen the intensity of being together in a room

We may also observe the untamed qualities inherent in nature's elements.

Water
Wind
Fire
Air

By experiencing these moments, we sense our interconnectedness and interdependence on nature, and notice our spontaneity, and the mysteries that may yet await us.

Wild thinking and feeling - bringing the inner and outer worlds together
