Understanding Emotions - what they do – how counselling helps.
Sadness Fear Anger Happiness These four emotions are essential to our humanity . We need them all, but when they are out of balance and when we’re feeling stuck in one of them, we can’t see ahead. You don’t need to struggle. Acknowledging the past liberates you to live now.
The ‘What’ - Common Issues
Bereavement and Loss: Crisis of meaning. Walking the journey with you. Finding new ways of being while processing grief.
Depression and Anxiety: Have become ways to survive, which can stop you moving forward to live your life. Exploring your strengths and rediscovering your true self, leading to a fresh sense of meaning and purpose.
Additions and Misdirected Anger: These firefighting actions affect you, your relationships, your family, friends and work. Examine root causes, with judgement, behind behaviour objectively. A bit about neurodiversity: Describes diverse ways of thinking and being. Challenging the myth of ‘normality’. Can often produce a feeling of not belonging and loneliness and getting it wrong, somehow. Finding acceptance and your own way of managing overwhelm and still be you.
The ‘How’ – Our Working Together
Clarification: When you have a general understanding of your problem but don’t necessarily know how to resolve what you’re experiencing.
Behavioural Outcome When you have a high level of understanding of your problem and know what you want to change.
Exploration: If you can feel internal distress such as depression or anxiety, sadness or anger, but don’t have the understanding or clarity, only a general need to ‘feel better’.
Growth and Discovery: When you feel ready to understand and discover more about yourself.
